With learning in mind, we at Hardwood Ski and Bike, want to make mountain biking accessible to anyone from 4 – 70 years of age. With biking and non biking activities at our resort, the whole family can have an awesome day outdoors at our facility. Kids can enjoy our Radical Riders program and Camp Hardwood while adults can enjoy a Ride Better clinic, Women’s Clinics, or MTB 4 Life program. Students can venture out of the classroom and try mountain biking or learn about the environment around them in our Outdoor Education programs. In concert with OCA and NCCP, Hardwood offers the Community Initiation Course for Mountain Biking and the Introduction to Competition Course for aspiring coaches and instructors. Students and groups can venture outdoors to try mountain biking or discover themselves on our low ropes challenge courses and a 18 hole disc golf course. Radical Riders (6-13 years of age)
This four week learn-to-ride program covers a variety of topics that involve all aspects of riding with focus or FUNdamentals throughout the program. Radical Riders, through activities and games, will learn riding techniques such as climbing, descending, obstacles, braking and gearing, how to properly adjust their bike to fit themselves and how to care for and maintain their bike. Riders are required to have a bike and a properly fitted helmet. This program includes a daily trail ticket.

Camp Hardwood (6-13 years of age)
Camp Hardwood provides exciting and informative mountain bike instruction in a Day Camp setting. Our qualified staff, lead campers on exciting trail rides where they work on their riding skills and confidence. Campers also take part in group games, field sports, and low ropes challenges. Campers are split into one of three levels that suit their experience level. Each day their groups will try new trails and new obstacles. Campers must bring a lunch, our lunch program has been discontinued.
- Camp runs weekly from July 1st – August 23rd
Cost $250.00 +tax per camper, per week.
MTB Devo
Riding is FUN! Training is FUN! Racing is FUN! Success is FUN! If this describes how you feel about riding, then Team Hardwood is for you! The mission of this program is to develop “personal excellence” through the sport of mountain bike racing. Trek-Hardwood Development Program is for young and developing Mountain Bike racers, who love mountain biking and racing. Based on their level of commitment and age, riders can choose from a range of programs. A variety of programs will allow each team member the chance to grow as an athlete and an individual, in a positive atmosphere.

Women’s Clinics
Hardwood Ski and Bike invites women to one of our four women’s clinics. This year we are offering full day or 3 hour clinics.
Full Day Clinics
The day clinic includes a full day of instruction for all abilities, wrapping up with a yoga session to stretch out those muscles. Spots are limited to 16 per clinic, trail passes and a lunch will be included.
- Saturdays – June 15th and July 27th
3 Hour Clinics
This clinic is for new and experienced recreational riders and includes instruction and trail riding. Trail pass is included in the clinic.
Cost: $50.00 + tax
Cyclo Cross
This one day clinic will include riding position, mounting and dismounting, shouldering your bike, cornering, acceleration, riding in snow, mud, sand, climbing, descending, bike set up and maintenance, clothing and equipment, race tactics and much more. Course runs from 9:30am to 4pm and includes a trail pass.

Disc Golf Clinic
With our new 18 holes of disc golf and a Silver Level Ontario Disc Golf Tournament being held hear at Hardwood we are please to offer a 1 day skills clinic on Saturday May 12th from 10am – 3pm. We will have a guest pro from the PDGA tour coming to teach all the throwing techniques that have made them a champion. Participants will receive a free disc and lunch with their registration. We encourage participants to bring their own discs or rent a set of 3 from our rental shop.

Two Hour Personal Development Clinics
Try our two hour clinics and improve your riding and bike knowledge. Our instructors are certified with NCCP as well as being passionate riders and racers. Clinics are offered Saturday and Sunday mornings as well as Thursday evenings. A trail pass is included in the cost of the clinic.
Ride Better Level 1 is for newer riders who are comfortable on a bike, but are either new to single-track riding or need pointers to feel more comfortable. Clinic will cover obstacles, descending, climbing, cornering, gearing and breaking.
Clinics run from 10 am until noon and will be held on the following dates:
- Sunday May 5th
- Saturday June 8th
- Sunday July 14th
- Saturday August 10th
Ride Better Level 2 is for riders who have ridden for a couple years, aren’t racing and are looking to get faster and more comfortable on trail. Clinic will cover drop offs, larger obstacles, rooty climbs, bridges, switchbacks, gearing and descending with speed.
Clinics run from 10 am until noon and will be held on the following dates:

NCCP Community Initiation Course (Entry Level MTB instruction)
The Community Initiation Coaching Course is a National Coaching Certified Program (NCCP) for instructors who will primarily work with novice pre-competitive cyclists at the community level. The focus is on FUNdamentals, Learn to Train and Train to Train development stages of the Long Term Athlete Development model (LTAD). This course is geared towards volunteers, parents, recreational program administrators and councilors. You will require riding experience to enroll in this course. (14 hours)
Cost: $166.00 + tax for a 2 day 14 hour course

Introduction to Competition – Trained Coach (Training Basics 14 hour)
Trained Coach requires this 14 hours of training basics to be completed in order to be considered a “Trained Coach” There are no prerequisite courses for this coaching level, although all participants must be able to demonstrate required skills. This course is geared for new coaches, highschool and university team coaches, and team or club coaches.

Introduction to Competition – Trained Coach (Basic Cycling Skills)
Similar to the skills learned in the CIC course all “Trained Coaches” must complete a 7 hour basic cycling skills component. This component covers obstacles, descending, climbing, cornering, gearing, breaking, drop offs, rooty climbs, bridges, switchbacks and descending with speed.

NCCP Mountain Bike Skills and Tactics (Trained Coach or Race Coach course)
The Skills and Tactics course is a one day 7 hour course to develop the knowledge and practices of coaches with athletes competing in team and individual events.

Private Mountain Bike Lessons**
You can book private Mountain Bike lessons for technical work or training. Our instructors are not on site everyday but lessons can be booked on both weekdays or weekends from 10am - 4pm.
Lessons fees are $55.00 for a 1 hour private lesson, and $20.00 for each additional person up to 3 in total. (Plus tax)
Group Lessons or Tours are also available for $20.00/person plus tax. The minimum group size is 4 riders up to a maximum of 10 riders.
